IGN Reveals Revolution Specs

Postby supertoad » Thu Mar 30, 2006 5:20 am

Nintendo still has made no official announcement. These are based off claims from anonymous developers.

CPU speed: 729MHz
GPU speed: 243MHz
RAM: 24MBs main 1T-SRAM and 64MB external 1T-SRAM (total 88MB).

In comparision that makes it about twice as powerful as a Gamecube on paper, which is less than the Xbox 360, but I suspect that the improvement in graphics quality will be quite good. Revolution doesn't support high definition, so it needs less power and should look just as good in standard definition.

Yes, but they might have stuck the real effort to the use of the controller.

That's the problem with specs like this. The clock speeds are comparable, but that doesn't take into account the fact that its completely different hardware. Trust me, this is much more powerful than an Xbox or PS2.

But the problem is if it's as powerful as PS3 and XBOX360.

It won't be as powerful, but we all knew it wasn't going to be. And it doesn't have to be more powerful to have better games (which it will).

Exactly. I would just like to see a Zelda o swordplay game where you swing the remote part around to use as a sword. I don't know how they'll make that work, though. It would be awesome to have.
